Senior Parent Meeting Information
Cap & Gown Pick-Up: April 2nd during lunch; This date/time is the priority. Please do not interrupt Dr. Turner’s teaching to ask about pick-up. I will organize other dates/times after Spring Break as needed.
Senior Cap Decorations: Due to Mrs. McClure by April 16th. Paper copy of design. We do not want to distract from the purpose and prestige of ceremony.
Senior Letters: These are to Seniors from family/friends/teachers. Can be mailed/dropped off April 13th – May 8th. We give to Seniors during graduation practice. Please remember that these are mailing size.
*Seniors can drop off letters to teachers during this time frame.
Pep Rally & BASA Bash: April 17th 9AM Pep Rally and BASA Bash at 1:45 – Teachers/Coaches will let you know if involved in pep rally. Parents/Escorts and prom court arrive at 8AM for pep rally practice.
Prom: Tickets $65 on GOFAN. April 18th from 8-11. Guest contracts due April 13; Small Bags only – subject to checking at arrival
Stars & Strikes Senior Outing: April 24 from 11 - 4. Tickets ($25) purchased on SchoolWindow. Permission forms and lane/bus sign ups after spring break. Includes lunch, bowling, and $15 arcade game card for prizes. Approximately 12-3 at venue.
Yearbook: Last day to buy online May 4th
Baccalaureate: Thursday, May 7th at 6PM in PAC. Optional non-denominational ceremony. Friends and family invited to attend. Attire gowns and stoles (no caps).
Senior Week: May 11th – 15th: Senior Dress Up Days & snacks provided throughout
Senior Sunset (Yearbook Distribution): 6 – 8 PM BASA Courtyard; Dinner provided
Senior Honors Night: Wednesday, May 13th at 6PM in Performing Arts Center; Business Attire; Invitation Given out in May;
Senior Exams: Blocks 1&2 Thursday, May 14th; Blocks 3&4 – Friday May 15th
Senior Walk @ BASA: Friday, May 15th – Special Schedule; 8:45-9:35 – Breakfast for Parents and Seniors – Picture opportunities; 9:35 – 10:30 – Organization & Student Walk around Campus (Family and Cultural Stoles appropriate). 10:30 Group Picture in IA
11:15 – Student Only Meeting in Cafeteria; Tech Turn-In if Able 3:00
Elementary & MS Walks: Monday, May 18th from 9-11AM: Report to your elementary school at 9AM; 10 AM – MS Walk – Report to your middle school; If you were not in county (Austin Road and CFIT).
Graduation Practice: Tuesday, May 19th 9AM-12PM; 8:30 Tech Turn-In; Cafeteria and Parking Lot. Dress school appropriate comfortable clothing. Bring water. MUST ATTEND if walking in ceremony;
Graduation: Wednesday, May 20th at 2PM; Pay for parking in downtown Athens (students and parents); Students should be dropped of at 12 PM at Gate 2 on Foudry Street. Seating is first come first serve; If a student does not have transportation to Akins – email
Dr. Turner
Students: No additional items at ceremony – come in BCSS approved attire (no additions to cap/gown).
Audience: Clear bag policy; No noise makers, confetti – Akins rules – will list more details at it approaches
Dismissal: Venue security will issue both graduates and families out to Pulaski Street (closed due event). We are asked to leave the downtown area with transition of Apalachee soon after us
