BASA Seniors of the Month

Congratulations to Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy seniors Kelsey Mizell and Timothy Graham Mull on being named Barrow County Chamber of Commerce Seniors of the Month!
Kelsey Mizell’s journey at BASA began in the 8th grade.
Known for being compassionate, charismatic, and outgoing, Kelsey has become a familiar and encouraging voice through BASA’s daily announcements. Each broadcast reflects her genuine care for others, helping students start their day feeling informed, supported, and connected.
After graduation, Kelsey plans to continue her education at either Spelman College, Georgia Tech, or the University of Georgia, where she plans to study journalism and broadcasting. Her long-term goal is to become a news anchor, using her voice and talents to inform, inspire, and connect with audiences.
Throughout her time at BASA, Kelsey has been involved in an extraordinary number of organizations and activities, including Beta Club, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, National Honor Society, National Dance Honor Society, Black Student Union, Student Council, and BASA Ambassadors. She has also served as captain of both the cheer and dance teams, demonstrating her commitment to excellence and service.
Kelsey is grateful for the many educators and mentors who have helped shape her journey. She especially recognizes Coach Perry for his genuine care and encouragement of her growth both inside and outside the classroom.
Most importantly, Kelsey credits her family for making her the person she is today. She thanks her mother for knowing her better than anyone, teaching her confidence, and helping her become a strong leader. She thanks her father for always being there, and her brother for showing kindness and compassion to everyone he meets.
Reflecting on her time at BASA, Kelsey says she learned who she truly is. Her familiar broadcast sign-off, “Kelsey Cares,” is more than a catchphrase. It is a reflection of her character and the lasting impact she has had on the BASA community.
It is with honor that we recognize Ms. Kelsey Mizell as the Chamber of Commerce BASA Senior of the Month for September.
Graham Mull’s journey at BASA also began in the 8th grade, and throughout his time here, he has distinguished himself as a student leader who embodies determination, passion, and practicality.
Following graduation, Graham plans to continue his education by studying Political Science before pursuing a law degree as he works to build a career centered on public service, advocacy, and creating positive change for others.
While maintaining outstanding academic achievement, Graham has also devoted himself to numerous leadership opportunities. He is an active member of the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, DECA, and the National Honor Society. Most notably, he serves as the National President of FCCLA, working alongside nine fellow National Officers to support more than 270,000 members across the country. Through this role, Graham has traveled, collaborated, and served with a singular purpose: helping others bring their goals, passions, and dreams to life. His leadership is rooted in the belief that success is not measured by personal accomplishments alone, but by the opportunities created for others to succeed.
Graham credits much of his growth and development at BASA to the educators who have invested in him along the way. He is especially grateful to Dr. Turner, Mr. Lalaian, and Mrs. Peterson for the passion they bring to students each day. He also expresses deep appreciation for Ms. Caitlin Roberson, the FCCLA Executive Director in Georgia, whose mentorship through FCCLA has helped shape both his leadership skills and personal growth.
Above all, Graham recognizes the tremendous influence of his family. Their unwavering belief in him, encouragement, and support have given him the confidence to pursue ambitious goals and embrace new opportunities.
As he reflects on his years at BASA, Graham leaves behind a legacy of service, leadership, and inspiration. It is with honor that we recognize Mr. Timothy Graham Mull as the Chamber of Commerce BASA Senior of the Month for October.
We are proud of their outstanding achievements and the positive impact they have made on the WBHS community.
